Syncphonia is a project I worked on as a developer with some excellent members of the Music Dept at the University of Sussex.
Syncphonia consists of two apps: a Conductor app and a Performer app. They have been designed and refined in close collaboration with amateur and professional ensembles. We replace paper scores with a digital system that synchronises to the beat of a conductor or lead musician. The current bar and beat are highlighted so players can’t get lost, pages are turned automatically, and new parts can be distributed in seconds over a wireless network.
This project involved a real challenge of distributing scores across operating systems (iOS, Android) without using LAN (as school WiFi and firewalls and not reliable). We ended up with a great solution and a great application. If you work with a school or amateur ensemble, or a digital publisher, get in contact with them to join the developer program
